The authorities of the Ministry of Health, Public and Social Assistance (MSPAS) and the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) ask the population to maintain preventive measures against the rebound in dengue cases in the country.
To prevent the increase in people infected with dengue, the authorities call on the population to continue with prevention measures, which can continue with cleaning their homes.
“Countering dengue can be achieved through prevention measures that we can implement from our homes to prevent the spread of the transmitting mosquito,” they point out.
The MSPAS mentions that they continue to reach Guatemalan communities where health personnel work together with the population.
‘The actions focus on the removal of scrap metal to avoid stagnant water and the protection of water containers for human consumption, which prevents the production of mosquitoes,’ they point out.
Likewise, fumigation and placing larvicide in piles and barrels are also essential, which is why assistance days are scheduled with the communities to protect Guatemalan families, they say.
To date, 10,170 cases of dengue have been reported in the country. The Minister of Health, Oscar A. Cordón Cruz, indicated that “this is related to climate change, in this way we continue working in collaboration with other ministries.” Given this, the call is reiterated not to let our guard down and together fight the disease.
🦟According to the #OPSup to 400 million people suffer #dengue every year. It is essential that the population is informed and takes preventive measures to avoid the spread of this potentially deadly disease. #PreventionIGSS
