jpnn.com, JAKARTA – Security researchers from antivirus manufacturer Avast found miner malware cryptocurrency new one named Crackonosh.

Quoted from the BBC, Monday (28/6), the malware spreads through popular games such as Grand Theft Auto (GTA) V, NBA 2K19, and pirated versions of Pro Evolution Soccer 2018.

Avast said the Crackonosh malware did not activate immediately once the pirated game was installed. The malware only attacks when the victim is off guard.

In addition, the malware is also only active after the PC has restarted several times which then forces the system to enter safe mode, until all software and security features are easily removed.

The malware can protect itself from detection by turning off Windows Update and removing all security software.

If the miner program is already running, the malware can slow down your PC, damage components quickly and increase your electricity bill.

Avast discovered the malware after several users reported that the antivirus software on their devices had suddenly been deleted.

Avast currently detects about 800 cases on computers every day, and in total there are more than 222,000 cases.
