In this year’s competition, Markus Riva starts with the song “If You’re Gonna Love Me”, which is both a tribute and an intimate conversation between two people. “There are no boundaries, no suspicions, no doubt – everything turns into an infinite love that resonates in space. But at the same time, you find yourself on a lonely planet and don’t understand if it was a reality,” the song said in a statement.
“The song is, of course, about love,” the musician explained. “But it’s love in the highest degree, it’s not a passion, butterflies in your stomach, but it’s about saying ‘yes’ to a life when you have sacrificed the relationship to the end, accept all the pros and cons of the other person and go with that person to the end. “
Musician, songwriter, producer and TV presenter Markus Riva has released seven albums. Sings in Latvian, Russian, English and Ukrainian. He won second place in the international TV show “I Want to Meladze”. In the competition “Supernova” twice won the second place. As an actor, Markus Riva has also participated in several series, films and video projects, and also works as a DJ.

The jury set up by LTV has chosen to participate in the semi-finals 16 participants, the seventeenth internet in the vote determined by viewers and listeners. The semi-finals will be attended by: Aminata, Beatrice Heisler, “Bermuda Triangle”, “Bujan”, “Other Boys”, Elīna Gluzunova, “Inspo”, KATŌ, Linda Rušeniece, Markus Riva, “We Love You”, Miks Dukurs, Miks Galvanovskis, Patriks Peterson, RAUM, “The Coco’nuts” and Zelma.
This year, the live broadcasts of the “Supernova 2022” competition will be hosted by Katie Schönberg and Lauris Reiniks, a tandem with “Supernova” and Eurovision at Heart. In the semi-final and final half of the song contest, the audience will be in a text message and a telephone vote, and half in the jury.
The semi-final of the competition “Supernova” – on February 5 at 21.05 LTV1 and REplay.lv, the final – on February 12.
The aim of the “Supernova” competition is to find a composition by a brilliant artist and popular music who will represent Latvia in the large-scale Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy. The Eurovision semi-finals will take place on 10 and 12 May, and the final on 14 May. The representative of Latvia will perform in the first semifinal – on May 10.
