The spread of counterfeit oil will certainly worry car users. Physically, counterfeit oil packaging is increasingly resembling original oil so if you’re not careful, you can buy the wrong one was palsu.
Because this oil does not comply with the manufacturer’s recommended specifications, it can cause many impacts, from decreased engine performance, wasteful gasoline consumption, even to a broken engine that ends in engine failure. So, to make it safer and more comfortable, here’s how to make sure the TMO engine oil you bought is genuine or fake.
1. Pay attention to the bottle cap
Each TMO engine oil product has a different bottle cap color. The color of the package indicates the type of engine, i.e. petrol or diesel, oil type, and viscosity value. Like the blue bottle cap for gasoline car synthetic oil. For your information, TMO oil comes with a blue bottle cap, but it turns out that the oil purchased uses a green bottle cap, you can be sure it is fake oil.
2. QR Code feature
Now there is a new QR Code Anticounterfeit feature found on the TMO oil bottle which is marketed at Auto2000. This additional security system is carried out by scanning the QR Code on the aluminum seal of the TMO bottle cap via a cellphone. The information contained includes that the product information is genuine (genuine), and the product information has been scanned once and the product is not recognized as a potential counterfeit.
3. Pry, Unplug, Remove, Check Method (4C)
Customers can check the authenticity of TMO lubricants using the 4C method (Pick, Unplug, Remove, Check). In addition to helping reduce the circulation of counterfeit oil with the re-use packaging mode, because you have to damage the bottle cap so that it can no longer be used. TMO bottles also apply a ratchet & snap system, in which the bottle cap and bottle are joined together to prevent reuse.
First, pry off the TMO bottle cap seal using a small screwdriver. Next, remove the plastic cover of the bottle cap. Proceed with peeling off the TMO aluminum seal protective paper. Finally, check the QR code printed on the aluminum seal of the bottle cap. You will get information that you have scanned the QR Code for the first time, which means the product is original and has never been opened before.
