Islam Makhachev asks everyone to remember Turkey and Syria which were hit by a terrible earthquake. The message was conveyed by Makhachev after defeating Alexander Volkanovski in UFC 284.
Makhachev managed to beat Volkanovski through a fierce battle which ended in a unanimous decision victory for Makhachev. In his victory speech, Makhachev called on everyone to pay attention to Turkey.
“Friends, please don’t forget about Syria and Turkey. Thank you all,” Makhachev said after the match.
Turkey and Syria were just rocked by an earthquake earlier this week. In the latest developments, the devastating earthquake has claimed more than 28 thousand lives.
Islam Makhachev managed to beat Volkanovski by decision of the jury. Three judges gave Makhachev the advantage with a score of 48-47, 48-47, 49-46.
This victory made Makhachev successfully defend his lightweight title belt.
Despite the defeat, Volkanovski himself has shown that he is capable of putting up fierce resistance to Makhachev. Volkanovski, who went up in class to challenge Makhachev, was able to fight evenly for five rounds.
Volkanovski even survived Makhachev’s submission attempts. At the end of the fight, both Makhachev and Volkanovski both suffered multiple facial injuries.
