BEIJING – TikTok recently said that it will use more automation to remove videos from its platform that violate community guidelines.
Reported from Reuters, Tuesday (13/7/2021), the video uploaded to the short video platform uses technology to detect which functions to recognize and flag potential violations which will then be reviewed by members of the safety team. If a violation is identified, the video will be removed and the user will be notified of it.
The ByteDance-owned company added that over the next few weeks it will begin automatically removing certain types of policy-violating content.
The policies deemed to be in violation are regarding safety, adult nudity and sexual activity, violent and graphic content and illegal activities.
TikTok said the move would help its safety team to concentrate more on highly contextual areas such as bullying and harassment, misinformation and hate speech.
TikTok also added will send a warning in the app after the first violation. However, in case of repeated violations, the user will be notified and the account may also be permanently deleted.
These changes occur when social media networks, including TikTok and Facebook, have come under fire for their platforms amplifying hate speech and misinformation globally.
