After dropping the price of Pertamax, it appears the government has no intention of cutting it price of Pertamine. This is because, according to BUMN Minister Erick Thohir, the “original price” of fuel with RON 90 is still relatively high.
It is known that after the government lowered the price of Pertamax, quite a few people hoped that Pertalite would also be reduced. However, this hope is unlikely to materialize in the foreseeable future. According to Erick, the cheap price of Pertalite is still over IDR 11,000.
“It is also important to note that government assisted fuel, such as Pertalite, has a high world price, while our sale price is still 10,000 rupees per litre, the government is still assisting 1,100 rupees (per litre),” he said Erick Thohir through his official statement in South Jakarta, on Tuesday (3/1/2023).

That’s why, Erick confirmed, the government is always trying to keep subsidized fuel prices down. According to him, quoted by CNBC, these efforts need to be done more in the midst of an uncertain world economy.
“So we encourage it so that in 2023, when many countries are in recession, hopefully the pressure of the world’s recession will not happen to Indonesia, so it must be mutual cooperation. As for me, I’m sure we will always be there. We must overcome all the problems that arise in the dynamics. The problem must not be avoided, it must be overcome”, he underlined.
It is known that the same type of Pertalite fuel was only increased by the government in September last year. This fuel is now sold at Rp 10,000 per liter from Rp 7,650 per liter previously.

At the time, President Jokowi admitted that the government’s decision to raise the price of subsidized fuel was the last option that could be taken so that fuel subsidies could be diverted.
“This is the government’s last option, which is to divert fuel subsidies. So that the prices for different types of fuel that have been subsidized so far will undergo adjustments,” Jokowi said when announcing the new price for Pertalite fuel, last September 2022.
