Jakarta –
Liverpool continues to decline while its rivals are on Premier League increasingly uphill. Don’t be surprised if the Reds will finish outside the top four.
Liverpool drew 0-0 at home Manchester United at Anfield, Sunday (17/1/2021) evening WIB in the Premier League continued. This also extends Liverpool’s record of not winning in four consecutive league games this season.
The team made by Juergen Klopp previously drew 1-1 against West Bromwich Albion, 0-0 with Newcastle United, and lost 0-1 against Southampton. This bad result made Liverpool lose the top of the standings until now they have dropped to fourth place with 34 points.
Liverpool’s poor performance must be corrected immediately. If they fail to get red points again in the following week, Liverpool could further decline and be left behind by their rivals.
It is also not impossible that Liverpool can finish in the top four. Liverpool is currently only one point ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth and two points from Everton in sixth, but has one game postponed.
Liverpool will next face Burnley at Anfield. This match was also very tricky for Liverpool, considering Burnley were struggling to get away from the relegation zone and the meeting at Anfield last year ended in a draw.
Furthermore, there is Tottenham who will host Liverpool. The team made by Jose Mourinho is indeed unstable on the winning path, but it is very likely to hurt the Reds.
In February 2021, Liverpool underwent a crucial period. There was a duel against Manchester City and Leicester City in succession.
After these two matches, Liverpool appeared against RB Leipzig in the first leg of the Champions League last 16. Liverpool then had to meet Everton in a derby that often ended in a draw.
Liverpool also have to deal with the frequent entry of players into the treatment room. The high frequency and intensity of matches could make the hurricane of injury in the team never stop.
Leicester, who are third on 35 points – just like Man City in second, could certainly pick up the momentum for a fast run in February. Tottenham and Everton can also follow suit despite their involvement in the Europa League.
Be careful, Liverpool!
