The public transport network Le MET’ is alerting users to a scam on social networks: a fake account offers to obtain a SimpliCités card to benefit from “free transport all year round”.

In the Channel, the Cap Cotentin transport network was the victim of a similar scam. Near Nice, a fake account also promises fake transport subscriptions.

A fake account to supposedly access a “special offer”

In an attempt to cover up the scam, this fake account claims: “The City of Metz has launched a green initiative to encourage residents to use public transport more often.” It goes on to explain that “the special offer is valid until August 30, 2024.”

Internet users are then invited to click on a link to benefit from this card.

The MET’ network encourages reporting the fake account

“We are not the originators of the ‘Metz Public Transport Card’ account,” warns the Le MET network in a publication dated Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
