Luciano D’Onofrio was sent to Royal Antwerp FC to make the club a top club in Belgium. He seems to have succeeded in that too. Something that has also been noticed at the ex-club of D’Onofrio: Standard.
The sporting boss of Antwerp was associated with a return to Standard last season, but nothing came of it yet. The newspapaer François Fornieri, D’Onofrio’s confidant, took over 50 percent of Standard’s shares from Chairman Bruno Venanzi. A transfer of power therefore appears to be in the making the Rouches.
The newspaper indicates that the deal has already been finalized and more information will be released soon. That could also mean D’Onofrio’s return to Standard. Antwerp FC seems to want to prepare for this and is reportedly already working on a possible successor to sporting boss D’Onofrio.
