Model and actor Donny Roelvink has converted to Islam in Dubai. He confirmed this to RTL Boulevard. Images of the conversion, in which the Amsterdammer pronounces the Islamic confession of faith Shahada in a mosque in Dubai, are shared on social media.
Dries Roelvink’s son previously shared that, like his brother Dave, he was very interested in Islam. He confirmed the conversion to RTL Boulevard. “But I’m still learning this myself, so I don’t want to comment on this in the media.”
The accident in which he was run over contributed to the feeling that there must be ‘something higher’. Roelvink made his statements in the YouTube series RealTalks by FunX DJ Fernando Halman, writes De Telegraaf.
Donny was injured while shooting a fitness video with friends. He was run over by a Hummer. He ended up in hospital with five broken ribs and a collapsed lung. He then had to recover for weeks. He was also diagnosed with testicular cancer at the end of 2022, after which the ball on which the tumor was located was removed. He has completely recovered from this.
Previously, Donny was in the news because he developed medical problems after grinding down his teeth and having ‘cheap veneers’ installed in a Turkish clinic.
When asked, his father Dries says that his son ‘can better explain what he believes or does not believe’.
