We’ve known for a long time that there are plans to expand Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan with a Donkey Kong-themed world. There is no doubt that this expansion will eventually also come to other Super Nintendo Worlds around the world, but now we know when the new world opens in Japan.
As part of a new announcement (thanks, Universal Parks News Today), it has been mentioned that the grand opening of Donkey Kong Country will be in the spring of 2024, and that the world will include a Donkey Kong-themed roller coaster. The world is said to also feature KON G letters that can be collected with the Power-Up Band (watch our LA Super Nintendo World video below to see how these work), which will now also offer a new Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong -version.
We have not heard anything about a concrete opening date, but with the imminent opening we will probably know more in the coming weeks and months.
