The 22nd Asian University Presidents’ Forum, attended by 50 universities from 14 countries, concluded successfully at 11 am on the 1st at the Sohyang Musical Theater on Dongseo University’s Centum Campus.

The 22nd Asian University Presidents’ Forum was held at Dongseo University from October 30 to November 1, and held heated discussions about the future of higher education leaders from various Asian countries.
The theme of the 2024 AUPF (Asian University Presidents Forum) was ‘Strategic Alliance Among Asian Universities in Higher Education’.
Through this year’s forum, specific implementation plans were discussed to realize a new paradigm for higher education institutions that transcend national borders. Asian higher education leaders recently agreed on various types of cooperative programs to respond to the changing higher education environment.
In addition, they agreed to launch the Asia Alliance University to realize the establishment of a cooperative system among Asian universities through the development of an open online education platform and sharing of educational content, and promised active participation in the future through an agreement ceremony for this purpose.
The closing ceremony was held in the following order: adoption of the AUPF Busan Declaration, words of gratitude from President Jang Je-guk, presentation of the AUPF flag to the 2025 host university, greetings from the 2025 host university, closing remarks, and commemorative photos. The 2024 Asian University Presidents Forum Busan Declaration, announced at the closing ceremony, resolved to establish a platform for Asian universities to promote practical exchange and cooperation that can strengthen cooperation between universities in various Asian countries in the era of connection and cooperation between Asian universities.
In particular, at this president’s forum, the Asian Union University proposal proposed by Dongseo University was passed unanimously, and many Asian universities expressed their intention to participate. It was decided to review specific operation plans and cross-border laws and regulations starting from 2025, and prepare for the start of operation in the second half of 2025.
Dongseo University President Jang Je-guk said, “It is meaningful in responding to the rapidly changing environment of higher education and establishing a new platform through alliances among Asian universities.”
