Done, the Comet received another star instead of Plekance. Klepiš is coming to Brno

Hockey forward Jakub Klepiš became a reinforcement of extra-league Brno.

The 36-year-old 2010 world champion signed a contract with Kometa today and joined the team. In the south of Moravia, he will replace Tomáš Plekance, who ended unexpectedly in Brno last week due to serious personal reasons.

The offspring of Prague’s Slavia Klepiš has been working in recent seasons in Mladá Boleslav, where he came from Třinec during the 2015/16 year. After the last extra-league year, however, his contract in the Central Bohemian club ended and he was without engagement. Now he will try to fill the spot after Plekance in Comet’s second attack.

“Certainly contributed significantly to the departure of Tomas Plekance, who unfortunately took place in unfortunate circumstances that are familiar to everyone. It’s a bit of a coincidence, but I’m very happy for this chance. After all, not everyone can get to the Comet, “Klepiš stated on the club website after the first training in the new workplace.

He should wear the Kometa jersey for the first time in Thursday’s match against Hradec Králové, he will not play in Pardubice today.

“I have to go through more training first. It’s not ideal yet. I’ve only been on the ice four times, plus night travel, so I haven’t slept much. It’ll take a while for me to start feeling comfortable,” he added.

Klepiš, who has 66 NHL games and also played in the KHL and Sweden, entered 435 games in the extra league with a balance of 91 goals and 160 assists. He won the extra league in the Slavia jersey in 2003 and 2008, and won the Gagarin Cup with Ufa and Dynamo Moscow in 2011 and 2012.

He played 98 matches for the national team and presented himself at five world championships.
