Done: Jonna Sundling misses the world cup premiere in Ruka

Sundling is stopped by the hand injury she sustained after a fall in the national premiere in Gällivare this Friday.

The reigning world sprint champion was x-rayed after the fall but no fracture could be found, however, she was plastered for pain relief.

It is already klart that William Poromaa will not start either and Ruka. The 20-year-old is suffering from a cold.

– We have some illnesses and injuries in the squad but hope that it will be fixed within the next few days and weeks. The most important thing in all these cases is to hurry slowly and start with a smart and well-thought-out plan, says national team manager Anders Byström in a press release.

One who, on the other hand will go to the premiere is Leo Johansson, who was successful with two victories in Gällivare.

– It is an exciting squad that we send to the World Cup premiere in Ruka, Kuusamo. We have some new faces that really showed brilliant form and high class in this weekend’s premiere in Gällivare. It will be extra interesting to see young men like Leo Johansson, Eric Rosjö and Jonas Eriksson measure their strengths with the world’s best skiers, says Anders Byström.

The Norwegian squad was also taken out on Monday and it is now clear that Ingvild Flugstad Østberg will make a comeback in this weekend’s competitions. The Norwegian has not competed since March 2020.
