Doncic achieves ‘triple double’ in Mavericks win | Excelsior

DALLAS

Slovenian Luka Doncic achieved another ‘triple-double’ on Wednesday in a close victory for the Dallas Mavericks, while the Brooklyn Nets relied on fellow star Kyrie Irving to beat the Indiana Pacers, in a busy day of the NBA.

Doncic totaled 28 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds for his Mavericks to beat the Atlanta Hawks 118-117.

The Mavericks kept the ball out of Trae Young’s hands in a play with 4.7 seconds left.

Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 13 of his 16 points off the bench in the fourth quarter to spark a comeback and put the Mavericks on the road to victory.

Dallas won its third straight game and fourth in the last five meetings.

John Collins scored 33 points and Young 25 points with 15 assists for the Hawks, who have lost four out of five. Kevin Huerter scored 23 points, his season-high for the Hawks.

Dallas played the national anthem before the game for the first time this season, a day after owner Mark Cuban revealed that he had decided not to touch “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
