The Danube Island Festival will take place from September 17th to 19th. The state party secretary of the Vienna SPÖ, Barbara Novak, has already announced this. The 38th edition of the festival will take place on a smaller scale than usual and with an extensive Covid concept. The exact details will be presented today.
According to Novak, it is certain that the Danube Island Festival 2021 can be visited with free admission. However, the island festival should be bigger than the mini edition 2020. In the previous year, a program was only offered on a stage on two days. The appearances were primarily designed for television. Very few visitors were allowed to be there directly on the island.
Dance festival and cultural summer Vienna
In general, the summer of events in Vienna takes place outdoors this year. With Theater im Park at the Belvedere, the Prater stage and the “Wean Hean” festival, there are already various cultural offers in the fresh air. The Globe Vienna has also been open-air since Monday. This summer, Avec, Granada and My Ugly Clementine will be playing there.
The Impulstanz Festival and Kultursommer Wien will start again in July, with around 1,000 acts to perform at 40 venues over 40 days. New in July is the “Amadeus Festival Vienna”, where classical music is played in the area of the former Semmelweis Clinic. As in the previous year, the Donauinselfest tour bus is on the road in all 23 districts in August. In September the Waves Festival will take place again in the WUK.
