Donation Urgency: French Blood Establishment Calls for Mobilization During Public Holidays in Tarn et Garonne

The situation worries. This year, four public holidays reduce the possibilities of donations. For’French Blood Establishment (EFS), these are so many “days without collection”. It is for this reason that the organization calls for mobilization. This is particularly the case in the Tarn et Garonne. The department branch is working hard to meet the needs of patients.

1,000 pockets per day

The observation is as follows: the EFS needs to collect 1,000 pockets daily to meet the needs of patients in Occitania. However, during this month of May, the four public holidays represent “at least 4,000 blood bags which cannot be collected”. The objectives of the other offices must be achieved, “it’s essential”, warns the organization.

Thus, many appointments are planned in the Tarn et Garonne. First of all, the House of the Don of Montauban exceptionally opens its doors from Monday May 22 to Friday May 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday May 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In normal times, the establishment is accessible every Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. hours to 1 p.m.

You can donate blood on the following dates:

• Wednesday, May 3 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the village hall of Labarthe ;
• Tuesday May 9 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday May 10 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Espace Bonnaïs in Caussade ;
• Thursday, May 11 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the socio-cultural space of Grisolles ;
• Friday, May 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Laurier Hall of Montech ;
• Friday May 19 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Vignals stadium in Lauzerte ;
• Tuesday, May 30 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the sports hall ofAlbias ;
• Wednesday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Thursday, June 1 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Salle du Clam in Valence d’Agen.

Before going to a collection, the EFS reminds you of a few essential points:

• You must not be fasting and you must drink before and after sampling;
• Donations are for people between 18 and 70 years oldwho weigh more than 50 kg and who have not been transfused;
• The time on site is estimated at one hour between the reception, the interview, the sampling and then the break to regain strength.
