HERMOSILLO, Sonora.- For facilitate the blood donation process, and that there are sufficient reserves of units in all the entity’s hospitals, the State Center for Blood Transfusion and the Ministry of Health, will enable the mobile donation unit, in centennial square.
Edgar Velazquez Vega, director of the State Center for Blood Transfusion, explained that starting tomorrow, this unit will be located next to the Museum of the University of Sonora, so that people can donate without entering a hospital, in a faster and more accessible way.
Donating blood will be easier
Unit You can receive people from 07:00 a.m., so that they can be evaluated and later donate their blood, if they meet all the appropriate requirements for it.
“We invite the community to join in donating blood; starting tomorrow there will be a mobile unit within the city to promote donation, and through this means it will be easier for people to join as donors,” He said.
“The unit will be in the Plaza de los 100 Años, starting at 7:00 a.m., and there they will be able to receive any interested party, who wants to donate, or learn about the process,” he added.
What requirements exist to donate blood?
Some of the requirements that are taken into account during the assessment, he explained, is that people are over 18 and under 65; have a weight greater than 50 kilos, that they are healthy, and do not go through any infectious process or active respiratory condition.
To those who suffered from the Covid-19 infection, he reminded them that they can be candidates for evaluation, as long as more than 30 days have passed since their symptoms appeared, or a positive result.

“Certainly due to this wave of Covi, the participation of donors has decreased, because many do not meet the requirements to donate and others have not completed the number of days required to be candidates to donate,” he explained.
“Despite that, we have maintained an adequate influx of donors, since we receive between 20 to 25 people a day, when the normal is 30 to 35 people, but they usually accept only 45 to 50%, and reservations never will be enough for any hospital,” he stressed.
The doctor invited people to be aware of this situation and join the voluntary blood donation, as this will help keep reserves in adequate conditions, and all patients who require it can have access to this liquid.
