Donar manages to attract former NBA player Rudez NOW

Donar has managed to recruit a former NBA player. The seven-time champion from Groningen has secured the arrival of the Croatian Damjan Rudez, the younger brother of coach Ivan Rudez.

34-year-old Rudez made his NBA debut with Indiana Pacers in the 2014/2015 season, which captured him after the 2.08-meter forward had played successfully at top European clubs for years.

With the Indianapolis squad, he averaged 15 minutes and 4.8 points per game. Later, he played with Minnesota Timberwolves (2015/2016) and Orlando Magic (2016/2017). In total, he played in over a hundred NBA games.

It is not often that former NBA players choose to work in the Netherlands. After his adventure in the largest basketball league in the world, Rudez played in Valencia, Monaco and Murcia.

Donar announced in April that he would not continue with Erik Braal, the most successful coach in Groningen history. He has led the club to three league titles, two national cups and two supercups in recent years and put Donar European on the map.

Incidentally, it is not yet known when the Dutch league will start again. In March, the previous season ended due to the coronavirus outbreak.
