Donald Tusk takes over the leadership of Poland’s largest opposition party

Former Civic Platform leader Boris Budka resigned as party chairman at the party’s congress on Saturday, allowing Tusk to become the party’s interim leader until his candidacy is approved by party members.

In his address to party members, Tusk promised to fight more actively against the conservative law and justice party in Poland, “Law and Justice”.

“Evil is in power in Poland today,” Tusk said, noting that “Law and Justice” had launched a fight against the European Union (EU), Germany and even the Czech Republic and alienated Poland from the current US administration with its “idiotic political investment” in former US President Donald. On the tramp.

Tusk, 64, who was one of the founders of the Civic Platform in 2001, has been president of the European People’s Party since 2019. He was the Prime Minister of Poland from 2007 to 2014 and the President of the European Council from 2014 to 2019.

Since Tusk left Polish politics in 2014, the rating of the “Civic Party” has fallen and is now about 15%.
