Donald Trump’s Views on Mexico, Global Politics, and More: An Interview with Univision

Former US President Donald Trump declared during an interview with Univision on Thursday night that “if World War III occurs, Mexico will probably no longer exist.”

Saying that “the biggest threat is nuclear weapons,” the former Republican president continued: “If they hit us, you will also be annihilated (…).”

He added that “when I listen to these people talk about the environment and over a period of 300 years, the oceans will rise 1/100th of an inch. And this is a big threat. It’s not a threat. The threat is not global warming. “It’s nuclear warming. It’s the biggest threat to your country, to our country, to all nations.” He indicated that for global security it is “the greatest threat.”

Regarding the Mexican president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and the border, he added that “your president is a friend of mine. He is a tremendous man. He has been very loyal to me. I have been very loyal to him. We just get along well. It’s a little different, “A little more left-wing than me, perhaps, but he is a great gentleman and a wonderful man. And I think he has done a fantastic job for Mexico.”

He stated in the interview that “the most important thing now is security. They want security. They want to have a border. We have a huge number of people, for example, from Mexico. They live here, either permanently or part-time. They don’t want people come in and break into your house or do bad things. They want to see security. They want to have a border. You know, borders work both ways. And we’ve had incredible relationships with Mexico.”

The former Republican president declared that “the border is no longer secure.” He said that “the open border policy (…) is terrible for Mexico. I spoke with its president. Its president knows it because people come from all over the world. They are walking through Mexico. Mexico does not want that. They are moving forward.

“It’s like a human highway. And they come by the hundreds of thousands, by the millions through Mexico. And bad things happen when that happens. Then your president hates him. I hate him. We had the most secure border in history. We had the safest in history, Mexico. They gave us soldiers at my request, they gave us free soldiers, many of them thousands and thousands of soldiers. We did it, especially while I was building the wall, because we built 561 miles of wall. And then, after building another 200 miles, everything was finished, everything manufactured, everything ready to go. And these really ignorant people in this administration decided that we want open borders. Open borders are very bad and they are very bad for us, but they are very bad for Mexico too, because people from all over the world walk through Mexico and to a much lesser extent through Canada, but they walk through Mexico and you don’t want many of these people who come to walk through Mexico.

The former president added that “the criminals who enter walk through Mexico. Your president doesn’t like it too much, I assure you. But they are walking through Mexico. They come to the United States. With me, I stopped them and we worked with Mexico to achieve it. But “I stopped and stopped him in his tracks. But now they’re coming by the hundreds of thousands. But look at the caravan that’s walking through Mexico right now. And Biden has no idea what to do with it.”

Regarding Mexico paying for the border wall, he indicated that “Yes, it did it in a big way. Mexico supplied us with thousands and thousands of soldiers, and I said, Mexico is going to pay for a piece of the border wall because it also helps Mexico. It helps a lot “Mexico. It stops people from coming. And it was very effective. Without the border wall we could never have had the record numbers. We had record numbers, the lowest number of people ever recorded in history.”

He recalled: “I said what I’m going to do is put tariffs on cars or I’m going to do something else. And they agreed that they would pay, you know, that kind of thing because you’ve heard it. But they agreed that they would give us thousands of soldiers for free, which they did to protect our country while the wall was being built. And that money, that figure that you are talking about was at least equivalent to the money that they would have put into a wall. So we used it. And the reason is that there was no legal process where Mexico can give us money to build a wall in the United States. But there was a legal process in which they could give up soldiers, so they gave them up for free. And it was very effective and they were very effective soldiers. I have to say. They did a very good job. job”.

About the T-MEC he mentioned that “by bringing all this business through Mexico now, Mexico has done very well in particular, and we have taken it away from foreign countries very far away. So I think I have done a lot to help Mexico And I’m very proud of that.”

The former president indicated that, in relation to fentanyl, “Mexico also does not like what is happening with fentanyl and with all the other things that are passing through the border. And Mexico is also a victim of it. You have a tremendous problem with the drugs, with your people. The people, the drugs, the destruction of families, the death. Then we would be dealing with Mexico, but something has to be done about it. We are losing, I think probably 250 thousand people a year. That’s like a major military intervention. Something has to be done about it.”

He mentioned that “we have to include China in the picture because most of it comes from China. So we have to bring China (…) It is a war on drugs. And we are going to get it and we will deal with it with Mexico. Look “Mexico wants it solved as much as we do.”

The former president declared that “the whole world is exploding, not just this country or yours, the whole world is exploding. When you look at Ukraine and Israel and everything that is happening, the whole world is a disaster.” He added that he “put Iran in a good position.” “We would have made a deal with Iran. Iran was bankrupt. I say this respectfully, they were bankrupt.”

Regarding the Hamas incursion into Israel, he added that “it is surprising that many people knew about it and did not know about it because they have a very high level of intelligence in terms of their service. But it is a little surprising. But things like that can happen and it is not can blame it on how big what will happen from this point on will be.”

“How could it happen? How could it happen that they could keep it a secret? Supposedly they didn’t use the Internet, they didn’t use phones. They did it the old way with messengers and paper and things that were a little bit different. But the big decision and the big problem is What’s going to happen? How is this going to end? We have to end this. And I don’t think the Biden administration is going to end this. The problem I have is that the Biden administration is doing a lot of things wrong and has a lot power. This country has so much power over the world if you know how to use it. And I really think this could be the way they are doing it, including Ukraine and all the things that are happening there. I really think this could end in “a very, very bad situation for everyone. For everyone. For everyone. It could end in World War III.”

Regarding the situation, after Hamas’s incursion into Israel, he indicated that “it is going to get worse because there is no one from the United States who is leading. There is no one who can solve this whole matter. You have to lead. You have to be able to lead. And no “We have no one who is leading.”
