Donald Trump’s “peace plan,” which he wants to implement if he returns to the White House, is to harshly threaten both Ukraine and Russia, forcing them to negotiate immediately. Informed sources told the publication about this Bloomberg.
According to one of Trump’s advisers, he plans to blackmail Ukraine by stopping American military aid in order to force Kyiv to sit down at the negotiating table with Moscow. In turn, Trump plans to force Russia to do the same by threatening to increase arms supplies to Ukraine. Trump advisers Larry Kudlow and Robert O’Brien have also publicly pushed for tougher sanctions against Russia’s central bank to coax Putin toward a peace deal.
At the same time, sources assure that at the moment the Trump team is not conducting any negotiations with Russian or Ukrainian mediators on this topic. This is explained by the rules of American law, which prohibit private individuals from negotiating on behalf of the government.
Trump promises to quickly end the war in Ukraine
As UNIAN wrote, over the past two years, Donald Trump has repeatedly promised to end the war in Ukraine. At the same time, he assured that he could do this within 24 hours after returning to the White House.
Trump usually avoids revealing details of how exactly he plans to reconcile Ukraine with the aggressor state. However, last summer, the former US President made a careless statement, from which his intention directly follows to give Putin the entire occupied territory of Ukraine, if not more.
“I think that they (Ukrainians) will have the right to keep for themselves most of what they have conquered [во время контрнаступления ВСУ весной и осенью 2022 года]and I think Russia will also agree to this,” he said in June 2023.
