Missouri Results
In Missouri, Trump emerged triumphant, winning all 54 Republican delegates available. The state’s Republican Party held its presidential caucuses on Saturday, providing voters with their only chance to voice their preferences for the party’s nominee in the upcoming November presidential ballot. Voters eagerly lined up outside a church in Columbia, home to the University of Missouri, eager to participate in this crucial process.
Michigan Victories
Michigan was another state where Trump tasted victory. At the state’s convention in Grand Rapids, 51 out of the 55 GOP presidential delegates were allocated to the former president. This significant allocation solidifies his hold on the state and further demonstrates his broad support among Michigan Republicans. Trump had already secured 12 at-large delegates in Michigan’s Republican primary earlier in the week.
Idaho Triumph
Trump also swept all 32 delegates in Idaho, marking a clean sweep in all three states. The Republican caucuses in Idaho took place on Saturday, and Trump emerged victorious once again. Although the Democratic caucuses in Idaho won’t be held until May 23rd, Trump has already established a strong foothold among Republican voters in the state.

With these wins, Trump’s delegate count now stands at 247 nationwide. In contrast, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, one of Trump’s rivals for the GOP nomination, has only secured 24 delegates so far. Michigan’s Republican convention was not without its challenges. A significant portion of the party’s grassroots force opted to skip the gathering due to a prolonged dispute over the party’s leadership. Changes to Caucus Systems
Both Missouri and Idaho experienced changes to their caucus systems this year. In Missouri, a new system was implemented, primarily run by Republican volunteers. The caucuses were organized after the state’s planned March 12 presidential primary was canceled under a 2022 law signed by Missouri Republican Governor Mike Parson. Despite calls from party leaders, attempts to reinstate the primary have been unsuccessful so far.
In Idaho, a cost-cutting legislation passed last year unintentionally eliminated the presidential primaries altogether, leaving both parties with caucuses as their only option. The Republican-led legislature considered holding a special session to reinstate the presidential primaries but failed to reach an agreement in time. As a result, all Republican voters who wish to participate must attend in person and vote after hearing short speeches by the candidates or their representatives.

Trump’s success in these caucuses demonstrates his ability to navigate different systems and secure victories. In 2016, he placed second in the Idaho primary behind Senator Ted Cruz of Texas.
