Donald Trump said today that the Gaza Strip, which has been under bombardment for a year by the Israeli army, has the potential to be “even better than Monaco” when it is rebuilt.
“This could be the nicest place, with the weather it has, the water, everything, the climate could be great”the Republican White House nominee said during an interview on the first anniversary of Oct. 7.
“I think it could be even better than Monaco,” a wealthy principality on the Côte d’Azur, the Republican former president added, without referring to the humanitarian crisis in the enclave or the death toll among Palestinian civilians. “It could be the best thing in the Middle East,” he said.
Donald Trump had emerged as Israel’s ultimate defender when the war with Hamas broke out. In recent months, however, he has said he’s “not exactly sure he likes the way” Israel is conducting its offensive.
Referring to the “videos of collapsing buildings”, the former US president specifically stated that Israel is “totally losing the communication war”.
