Trump’s team is referring to a report from Microsoft on Friday in which the company indicated that hackers with ties to the Iranian government tried in June to break into the email accounts of a “senior executive”. in the US presidential election campaign.

The hackers managed to take control of an email account belonging to a former political consultant and then used this account to attack the official using phishing tactics, according to Microsoft’s description.

A Microsoft spokesman declined Reuters requests to name the service provider or provide more information about the identities of those involved.
