Donald Trump Sets Sights on Nikki Haley After Ron DeSantis Drops Out of GOP Primary Race
Former President Donald Trump has shifted his focus from Ron DeSantis to Nikki Haley in the GOP primary race. Despite trailing Trump by double-digits in the polls, Haley has become Trump’s nearest opponent after DeSantis conveniently dropped out of the race. However, tensions between Trump and Haley have been escalating recently, with Haley questioning Trump’s mental fitness.
At a rally in New Hampshire, Trump criticized Haley for forming an alliance with RINOs (Republicans in Name Only), Never Trumpers, and Americans for Prosperity. He even went as far as confusing the name of the conservative group, referring to them as “Americans for No Prosperity.” Trump accused Haley of being supported by bad people, including globalists and radical left communists, who aim to attract liberals and Biden supporters.
In response to Trump’s accusations, Haley gave multiple interviews where she raised concerns about Trump’s mental fitness. She pointed out instances where Trump made factual errors, such as claiming that Joe Biden would get the United States into World War II instead of World War III. Haley also addressed Trump’s false claim that she kept security from the Capitol on January 6th, clarifying that she was nowhere near the Capitol at the time.
Trump, however, didn’t shy away from addressing questions about his cognitive abilities. He accused Haley of betraying the Republican Party by siding with Barack Hussein Obama against his travel ban. Trump suggested that he deliberately uses Obama’s middle name, Hussein, to avoid confusion with Biden. He hinted that Obama might still be exerting influence behind the scenes.
During his rally speech, Trump didn’t limit his attacks to Haley alone. He also targeted New Hampshire’s Republican governor, Chris Sununu, who endorsed Haley. Trump referred to Sununu as the “most overrated governor” and expressed his desire to remove him from office. Trump claimed that his influence was the reason New Hampshire has the first primary in the country.
Returning to his criticism of Haley, Trump accused the people supporting her of being pro-amnesty, pro-China, pro-open borders, and pro-war. He claimed that 50 percent of those who voted for Haley in Iowa are now voting for Biden, suggesting that they were actually Democrats who had no other choice. Trump argued that the radical Democrats are supporting Haley because they believe she is easy to beat and unelectable.
Trump also attacked Haley on his pet issue, the U.S.-Mexico border wall. He labeled her a “globalist” and claimed that she would never secure the border or stop the influx of fentanyl into the country, which has been causing numerous deaths in New Hampshire. Trump expressed disbelief at Haley’s opposition to his border wall and questioned her motives.
In addition to his political endeavors, Trump mentioned his legal troubles. He claimed to have been indicted more times than Al Capone, emphasizing the various civil cases against him. Trump revealed his plans to attend a hearing in E. Jean Carroll’s civil case against him in New York. Despite multiple court rulings against him, Trump maintained that Carroll’s story is fabricated.
As the New Hampshire primary approaches, Trump’s verbal attacks on Haley indicate a growing rivalry between the two contenders. Trump’s ability to dominate the Republican field remains evident, but Haley refuses to back down, raising questions about Trump’s mental fitness and challenging his policies. The outcome of the primary race will reveal whether Haley can truly pose a threat to Trump’s hold on the Republican Party.
