Trump is delivering the keynote speech that closes a major conference at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), a think tank densely populated by his allies. Trump enters the podium at 21.30 Norwegian time.
In the speech, Trump comments on inflation and the high petrol prices in the US. In his opinion, the country is now “kneeling” under the Binden administration.
– Our country is going to hell, says the former president.
According to him, he put the blame on the Democratic Party Newsweek. He claimed that the United States had a booming economy, a secure border with Mexico, low gas prices and no inflation when he himself was president.
A Republican President
– Our country is now a pool of crime, we have blood, death and suffering on an unimaginable scale, says Trump in Tuesday’s speech.
He therefore believes that the people will vote for a Republican president in 2024.
–
– I look forward to when a Republican president takes back the White House in 2024, which I really believe will happen, says Trump.
Trump has previously stated that he will stand for election in 2024 to be re-elected as US president and he made a clear hint during tonight’s speech.
– If I don’t do that, our country is lost, says the president.
– We will not let this continue. We are getting ready for an incredible comeback, says Trump at the very end of the 90-minute speech.
Cryptic
Some of Trump’s advisers are said to have asked him to talk more about his future visions as he prepares to announce whether he will stand as a candidate in the election.
A few hours before Trump took the podium, his former Vice President Mike Pence gave a speech in Washington.
– Elections are about the future
In the speech, Pence spoke about the fact that there is no point in looking back to win elections.
– Some choose to focus on the past, but elections are about the future, he told a gathering of conservative students.
He also speaks in favor of introducing the death penalty for drug dealers, and refers to China, which Trump claims does not have a problem with people using drugs.
