Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Former President of the United States (US) Donald Trump has raised nearly US $ 20 million or around Rp. 306 billion (exchange rate of Rp. 15,298 / US $) in the last three weeks. This advantage came about to coincide with his series of charges against him.

Quoting Reuters, profits soared even more after Trump turned himself in on 13 criminal charges, including his attempt to reverse the results of the 2020 Georgia election, to the Fulton County Jail on Thursday (24/8/2023) local time.

Trump’s ‘mugshot’ photo taken during the surrender has now generated a profit of US $ 7.1 million (Rp. 108 billion). The photos turned into t-shirts, glasses, mugs, posters and even bobblehead dolls for resale.

Trump spokesman Steven Cheung even said Trump had made US $ 4.18 million (Rp. 63.9 billion) from selling knick-knacks from his photo. This amount is a day’s income on Friday (25/8/2023).

“This makes it the highest-grossing day of his campaign so far,” Cheung said via X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

The photo of Trump in a red tie, shiny hair and a scowl was taken as the Republican nominee for president was arrested on more than a dozen criminal charges.

Trump, who was elected president in 2016 but was defeated by Democrat Joe Biden in 2020, is again running for president as a Republican.

Trump currently faces four charges, including two related to his false claims that the election was rigged and the attack on January 6, 2021 by his followers on the US Capitol in Washington, DC But he has denied all charges.

On August 15, Trump was indicted by a Georgia grand jury following an investigation by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis into his attempt to reverse his 2020 election loss to Biden in that state.

On August 3, he pleaded not guilty to charges brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith in federal court in Washington that he conspired to deceive the United States by preventing Congress from certifying Biden’s 2020 election win over him. He also revoked the rights of voters to get their right to vote through fair elections.

Trump also pleaded not guilty to charges of unlawfully keeping classified documents after leaving office. It also included falsifying business records in a New York case related to hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.
