Former US President Donald Trump confirmed on his social network “Truth Social” that he plans to appear at the Fulton County Jail on Thursday to surrender to authorities in the case of tampering with the election results in the state of Georgia, Reuters reported, citing from BTA.
“I will be going to Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday to be ARRESTED,” Trump wrote on his social network. He described the charges as a politically motivated attempt to derail his re-election campaign.
Earlier today, CNN reported that Trump planned to report to the Fulton County Jail on Thursday. The date was agreed upon between Trump’s lawyers and the district attorney’s office today after his parole was negotiated, CNN reported.
Trump will report to the Fulton County Jail on Thursday and go through standard arrest procedures — being searched, photographed and fingerprinted, according to the television station. It is the first of a total of four cases against Trump, in which he will have to pay a $200,000 parole bond and will be required not to make threats on social media to avoid violating the terms of his bail.
Prosecutors in the case proposed that it begin on March 4 next year, while Trump’s lawyers asked for a delay until 2026, according to Reuters.
