Donald Trump was seen mistaking reggaeton artist Nicky Jam for a woman at a Las Vegas rally ahead of Jam’s speech endorsing the presidential candidate.
Yesterday (September 13), the 43-year-old singer made an appearance at a Trump support rally ahead of the US elections in November.
As Jam was introduced on stage, Trump was filmed telling the crowd: “Nicky Jam, the superstar of Latin music. You know Nicky? She’s hot. Where’s Nicky?”
To Trump’s surprise, Jam took the stage and the 78-year-old quickly changed his tune: “Oh, look, come here!” he told Jam before turning to the audience and saying, “I’m glad he came.”
“It’s an honor to meet you, Mr. President. People from where I come from don’t get to meet the president. So I’m lucky,” Jam said. “We need you. We need you, right? We need you to be president.” Watch the video of the moment below.
Jam took the faux pas in jest, sharing a photo of the two on his Instagram page, writing in Spanish:Nicky jam la potra la bichota“(“Nicky Jam is a fierce woman”) with several crying and laughing emojis.
Recently, the Trump campaign released a T-shirt designed very similarly to Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour merchandise.
It features a grid of photos of the former president in the colours of the infamous ‘Eras Tour’ t-shirt and retails for $36 (£27).
Any ambiguity about the inspiration behind the design was cleared up when a tweet from the former president’s headquarters called on “all Swifties for Trump” to get their “Trump era shirt today.”
The Republican candidate’s team announced the launch of the T-shirt, which reads “DONALD J. TRUMP MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” just days after the “Karma” singer endorsed Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential race.
Trump commented on Swift’s support for Harris, saying Fox and his friends“I wasn’t a Taylor Swift fan,” he began. “It was just a matter of time. She couldn’t support Biden… But she’s a very liberal person. She always seems to support a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay the price in the marketplace.”
