Donald Trump launches a social network after the veto on Twitter and Facebook

The new social media platform of the former president of the United States, Donald Trump, will see the light this Monday, February 21, in the Apple App Store, as reported Reuters.

In October, Trump announced that he would launch the platformbaptized as Truth Social, with the aim of “confronting the tyranny of the big technology companies”.

In this way, is done through the newly created Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG)under which former Republican Rep. Devin Nunes serves as CEO.

Various sources have commented to Reuters that on Thursday, February 17, around 500 beta users were already using the Truth Social app.

On Saturday, February 18, the outlet reported that it had seen screenshots of Truth Social posts made by its product manager, stating that the app would go public on Monday.

“We are currently scheduled for release on the Apple App Store on Monday, February 21,” said an executive listed by the app as Billy B., according to Reuters.

TMTG has not responded to a request for comment from Business Insider.

Business Insider previously reported that the app would launch on Monday, February 21, which coincides with Presidents’ Day in the United States.

As of Saturday, the listing for Truth Social in the Apple App Store still said: “Expected February 21, 2022.”

The launch of Truth Social will mark Trump’s return to social media after he was banned from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube last year in the wake of the uprising at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
