Donald Trump Jr. appeared again this Monday before the Manhattan state court that is trying his father, former President Donald Trump, himself, his brother Eric Trump and the Trump Organization for allegedly inflating the value of his assets and properties to obtain financial advantages from banks and insurers.
Trump’s eldest son, who previously testified as a prosecution witness, returned to the stand as a defense witness and offered an account praising his father’s career and charisma as a real estate mogul.
Trump Jr. responded to questions from defense lawyers, who showed him an extensive slide presentation with images and data of the properties that are at the center of the case. He took the opportunity to describe the history of the family business and the projects that his father had purchased or developed, highlighting her “genius” and his “vision” to transform “monsters” into “jewels.”

“He is an artist with real estate”Trump Jr. said about his father. “That’s the canvas he creates. He is a creative guy and is also good at building.”
Likewise, Trump Jr. repeatedly invoked his father’s description of an “artist,” saying he was able to see the potential in places no one else wanted. He cited as examples the Trump Tower building on Fifth Avenue in New York, the Trump International hotel in Washington DC and the Trump National Doral golf course in Miami.among others.
Lawyers for the state, who filed the civil suit last September, objected to the defense’s filing, which they deemed irrelevant and impertinent, but Judge Arthur Engoron rejected their effort.
“I think it’s relevant to get the historical perspective. I don’t want any more objections about it.”the judge noted.
The Attorney General of New York, Democrat Letitia James, is demanding compensation of $250 million for damages caused by the alleged fraud, which would have occurred between 2011 and 2021.
The lawsuit states that the Trumps and their company provided false financial statements to lenders and others, in which they inflated the value of their properties and Trump’s personal net worth, to obtain credits, insurance and tax benefits.
Trump Jr. has denied these accusations and attributed responsibility for preparing the financial statements to an external accounting company, Mazars USA, saying that he trusted the work of the accountants and that he was not aware of any irregularities.
In the same way, stated that property valuations were subjective and depended on many factorsand that his father had proven his estimates to be accurate as properties appreciated.
The civil fraud trial against the Trumps and the Trump Organization comes amid other criminal investigations that also affect the former president and his financial empire.
