Washington – The American President, Donald Trump, is at the lowest point of its approval, 40%, after the racial protests and the cases of police mistreatment that occurred in the United States and amid an upturn in the spread of coronavirus in the country, revealed this Friday a poll.
Trump, who on January 20, 2017 became the 45th president of the United States, has 58% disapproval, according to a survey conducted by the Marist Institute for Public Opinion (MIPO) in alliance with Public Radio National (NPR) and PBS NewsHour.
Of that total, 49% corresponds to people who “strongly” disapprove of the management of the current White House tenant.
According to NPR, that disapproval percentage “is a record never seen before for this president or anyone else in the past.”
The poll, in which 1,640 adults participated between June 22 and 24, also showed that the US president, who is seeking re-election in next November’s elections, is below his rival and virtual Democratic candidate, the former vice president. Joe Biden, in the intention to vote.
The consultation indicated that Biden is ahead of Trump by 8 percentage points.
When asked “If the November elections were held today, who would you support?”, 52% favored the former vice president, while 44% did so for Trump.
This result, NPR details, is no different from the one obtained in a similar survey carried out earlier this month, in which Biden reached 50% support compared to 43% for the current head of state.
In an analysis of potential voters by party, 95% of Democrats said they were willing to support Biden, while 91% of Republicans did the same for Trump.
43% of men expressed their intention to endorse Biden, while 51% expressed their support for Trump. 60% of the female vote would go to the Democratic leader and 37% to the current president.
By race, Trump has 51% of the vote among the white population.
If the variables of race and education are crossed, 60% of whites without a university degree would vote for the ruler, a percentage that drops to 38% in the case of whites with a university degree.
Biden has 91% of the voting intention of African-Americans and 59% of Latino support, although this percentage, NPR recalled, is still low if it is taken into account that it reached 66% for former candidate Hillary Clinton in the elections. 2016
Among those under 45, Biden arouses the sympathy of 59% and 46% of those over 45, while 60% of the suburban population supports the Democrat and 61% of inhabitants in rural areas would vote in favor of Trump.
