Donald Trump’s (74) Twitter account has been suspended. The US President then used his favorite mouthpiece and published a videoin which he took a stand on the riots at the US Capitol.
Like all US citizens, he was outraged by the violence, lawlessness and chaos of the unrest at the Capitol, said Trump at the beginning of the two and a half-minute speech. The United States must always be a nation of law and order. “The violent troublemakers do not represent our country and those who break the law will pay for it,” said the US president. The situation must now calm down. His only aim was to fight for the legitimacy of the election result and for democracy.
Trump promises “seamless change of power”
“Now Congress has confirmed the results. A new government will be inaugurated on January 20th. My focus is now on ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transfer of power,” Trump said. “This moment requires healing and reconciliation.” At the end of the day, he still has a message for his followers that gives many critics food for thought. “I know you are disappointed,” he addressed his supporters. “But I want you guys to know that our incredible journey has only just begun.”
Trump had urged his supporters on Wednesday (January 6) to move to the Capitol. They then stormed and devastated parliament. After the riots, the critics are calling for Trump to be removed early. The Republican’s term officially ends on January 20. Facebook and Instagram boss Mark Zuckerberg (36) does not want Trump to speak until then, as he confirmed on Thursday (January 7th). He will continue to block Trump on Facebook and Instagram “until the peaceful change of power is complete.” The lock will therefore be maintained for “at least the next two weeks”.
