Donald Trump Found Liable for Fraud in Lawsuit Over Inflated Assets and Net Worth

NY. Donald Trump and his family business were found liable for fraud on Tuesday in state Attorney General Letitia James’ civil lawsuit, which accused the former US president of illegally inflating his assets and net worth.

The decision was issued by Judge Arthur Engoron of New York State Court in Manhattan.

James sued Trump in September 2022, accusing him and the Trump Organization of lying for a decade about the value of his assets and net worth to obtain better terms on bank loans and insurance.

She has said Trump inflated his net worth by as much as $2.23 billion, and to an extent as much as $3.6 billion, in annual financial statements given to banks and insurers.

The attorney general has said that among the assets whose value was inflated were Trump’s estate in Mar-a-Lago (Florida), his penthouse in Trump Tower in Manhattan and several office complexes and golf courses.

The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, faces four criminal charges and two civil charges, of which he was already considered responsible for fraud in the civil lawsuit of the state attorney general, Letitia James, who accused him of illegally inflating his assets and his net worth.
