The former president of the United States Donald Trump has called the Russian president, Vladimir Putinto cease its aggression against Ukraine and has defined the invasion of Ukrainian territory as “a holocaust”.
Trump has urged Putin to “stop killing” the Ukrainians and has suggested that the conflict between the two nations could be resolved through diplomatic channels and reaching agreements.
“An agreement has to be reached. They have to stop killing these people (…) They are killing all these people and it has to be stopped. It has to be stopped now,” Trump said in an interview with Fox presenter Maria Bartiromo, collected by the newspaper ‘The Hill’
Beyond this, the former president has criticized his successor, Joe Biden, for the way in which the new United States Administration has managed the crisis in Eastern Europe.
Trump has repeated on successive occasions that the events in Ukraine would not have happened with him in the White House, and has even praised Putin for proving to be “intelligent” with his recognition of the independence of the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.
