American media reported that former US President Donald Trump defeated presidential candidate Nikki Haley, his last Republican competitor, in the primary elections in South Carolina.
CNN reported that Trump is leading in the primary elections in South Carolina by 66.8%, and according to Fox, the former president received 63.5%.
Trump’s victory represents a major setback for Haley, who embodies a more moderate wing of the Republican Party, especially since the elections took place in the state where she was governor for 6 years.
The former US President had previously threatened his rival Haley to crush her during the primary elections in South Carolina on Saturday.
In an interview with ABC news, in response to a question about whether she still adheres to her pledge to support Trump if he wins the Republican nomination, Haley said: “I do not think he is the right person at the right time,” stressing that she does not believe he should be president.
She added, “The last thing on my mind is who I’m going to support. The only thing on my mind is how we’re going to win. The only thing on my mind is how we’re going to make sure we correct what’s happening in America, reunite this country, and allow it to heal and move forward in a way.” “Strong. I don’t think about who I will support in the elections.”
