The investigation against Donald Trump is in full swing. But a decisive change is imminent.

New York – He was born in Queens in 1946, and the Trump Tower in Manhattan is the hallmark of his success. For a long time, Donald Trump liked to see himself as something of a king of New York. But those times are long gone. In any case, the former President of the United States no longer has much to do with his hometown, he is only rarely drawn back to his hometown, Trump now prefers to stay in the Mar-a-Lago golf resort in Florida or in Bedminster in the US state New Jersey on. Trump also owns a luxurious property there including a golf club.

Cyrus Vance is investigating Donald Trump

But New York could end up becoming the fate of Donald Trump after all. Donald Trump himself laid the foundation for this with his business conduct. Because Manhattan’s District Attorney Cyrus Vance has been investigating Trump and his empire, the Trump Organization, since 2019. The first catch was the hush money payments to Stormy Daniels and the former Playboy model Karen McDougal. But now Trump is also suspected of banking, insurance and tax fraud. He is said to have stated the value of his real estate too high or too low. This is said to have saved money on insurance and loans.

The investigation is currently progressing rapidly. Since February 2021, Vance has also had the long-withheld tax returns from the former president. In order to prevent the publication of these documents, Donald Trump even went to the Supreme Court twice. But the US Supreme Court was of no help to Trump. In an unusual move, the Manhattan Attorney’s Office also teamed up with New York Attorney General Letitia James. James recently announced that he has expanded its own civil investigation to include criminal prosecution against Trump and the Trump Organization. Trump reacted promptly and once again spoke of a “witch hunt”.

Investigation against Donald Trump: New York elects successor: in von Cyrus Vance

Vance also recently hired Mark Pomerantz, an expert on law enforcement against mafia bosses and white-collar crime. A grand jury was also convened. The jury will review in the coming months whether the burden of proof against Donald Trump is sufficient to lead an indictment. So the investigation seems to have peaked, but Vance, who became Manhattan prosecutor in 2010, announced in early 2021 that he would not run again this fall. It is therefore completely unclear whether Vance has the time to file charges against Trump himself in the coming months before he leaves office.

Thomas kenniff republican

The decision on the successor could basically be made tomorrow, Tuesday (June 22nd, 2021). Then the people in New York are called to primary elections. Eight Democrats and one Republican are competing there for this position, which is now so important for Donald Trump. In a city where the number of registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by more than 6 to 1, it is almost certain that the office will remain in the hands of the Democrats after the November election.

Either way, the task will certainly not be a walk in the park. Because from day one, the Donald Trump case will overshadow all other things in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Regardless of whether Vance himself will bring charges, or whether his: e successor: in will do so. (Christian Stör)
