Pedro González is best known to Colombians for his character Don Jediondo. Although his beginnings were on the radio, the one born in Sutamarchán (Boyacá) made a name for himself for his appearances on television, and especially for the variety of characters he played in No me lo Cambio, an emblematic comedy program of the years 90.

His appearance in segments such as El hollow or Los boyacenses made him recognized by viewers, and have allowed him to remain a recognized figure in Colombian humor for his double meanings. The comedian who has also worked as a businessman was the guest on the Bravíssimo broadcast on Sunday, October 1 from the municipality of Mosquera (Cundinamarca).
In the CityTV program, and without leaving aside the jokes (such as when he made reference to the founder of the municipality, Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera, by the popular nickname of “mascachochas”), the boyacense spoke about his first job when he arrived in the neighboring municipality to Bogota:
“My first job when I arrived in Bogotá was here in the (Mosquera) sector. They were remodeling the light strings and I got a job that had to measure the cables. They gave me a cart and every day I walked about 20 kilometers because they were changing all the wiring from here to Bojacá. “I was 17 years old.”
Likewise, the comedian recalled how he arrived in the media, initially on the radio, reading news on Caracol Radio. But the experience ended soon:
“It turns out that in ’92 I read news on Caracol Radio. And the journalist Edgar Artunduaga arrived and he called me out as a ‘gargajo’ and a tailor.’ He told me ‘life is a tombola’, and he didn’t like me imitating Cristobal Américo Rivera because I read news like that.”
According to the comedian, it was then that he made the move to television, and especially began his career as a joke teller:
“I came without a camel or anything. I started doing a news program on Radio Capital and a few years later, unfortunately, Don Germán Tobón, who was the owner of the station, was killed and I was left on the street. “So I showed up for ‘Happy Saturdays’ as a joke teller and at the beginning I won about three programs.”
At that moment came the real opportunity that changed the comedian’s life, through Hernán Orjuela, at that time presenter of No me lo Cambio. With special affection, Don Jediondo remembered the Bogotá presenter for giving him the opportunity that would make him recognized on Colombian television:
“One day, while I was at home doing nothing, they started calling me on my landline. My wife told me ‘she is calling you a guy who is pretending to be Hernán Orjuela’, because I told her that my ambition was to be in ‘Don’t change it’. She hung up on him, and one day she called and my wife said ‘there’s the guy pretending to be him.’ I answered and she told me that she would like to do a section in ‘Don’t change it’ that was called ‘Los boyaquitos’. The next Saturday she gave me money for it, like 10,000 pesos at the time, and that was very good for me. The other partner was Fernando Rojas, and that’s how ‘Los boyaquitos’ started and that’s where my dream began.”
During the usual Bravissimo section where friends or those close to the guest send their greetings, Don Jediondo recalled an anecdote with Juan Ricardo Lozano (known by his stage name of Alerta), with whom he had known since his first participations in Happy Saturdays and with whom who works as one of the comedians of the Caracol Radio radio program, La Luciérnaga:
“We had a trip to Spain. We were going to go through the security machine on the plane. I was carrying the staff and the security lady told me ‘you idiot! But you can’t take that on the plane!’ I told her we needed it, and when she asked who needed it, Juan Ricardo says me! (laughs) And they let it happen!”
