A year after the opening of New York Pizza, competitor Domino’s will soon open a branch in Bennekom across the Dorpsstraat. This is striking for a village with 17,000 inhabitants.
At Domino’s head office in Nieuwegein, they didn’t want to say much about it yet. “It is true that we will open a new business in Bennekom at the end of June. Is it exactly opposite New York Pizza? That happens often. We call it healthy competition. When our business will open exactly and who the franchisee is, I can’t say anything about that at the moment. .”
Both takeout and delivery pizza chains already have a few shops in the surrounding towns. Domino’s operates in Ede from the Stadspoort and Rozenplein shopping centers. New York Pizza has a business on Telefoonweg.
In Wageningen, Domino’s Pizza (Stadsbrink) and New York Pizza (Churchillweg) are located on the edge of the city center.
A little further on, hard work is being done on the renovation of the former Chinese restaurant China Garden on the corner of Dorpsstraat and Brinkstraat. According to a banner, grand café Dorpzicht will be there. The Villa Dorpzicht, which was demolished in 1939, used to be in the village.
