1. FC Union Berlin signed 28-year-old defender Dominique Heintz from SC Freiburg in the winter transfer period. After three and a half years with the Breisgauer, Heintz joins the Iron.
The former U19, U20 and U21 national player began playing football in his home country at SV Herta Kirrweiler before moving to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 2001, where he made his Bundesliga debut in 2012. At FCK, the 1.88-meter-tall central defender tied his football boots for six years until he moved to 1. FC Köln in 2015, with whom he qualified for the Europa League in 2017/18 and spent the entire season on the pitch in four of six group matches was standing. In the 2018/19 season, Heintz signed with SC Freiburg and has played 90 games for Freiburg to date. The left-footed player played a total of 181 Bundesliga games, scoring four goals.
