International cooperation is a fundamental axis to face this pandemic. I extend my gratitude to the people and Government of the Dominican Republic for this donation. We continue working to access more doses that guarantee the largest number of vaccinated people in the country. This is the route to promote the protection of our population and the safe economic reactivation “said the president.

With this donation, Costa Rica will receive a total of 999,870 vaccines doses by donation, of which 943,070 (94.31%) have already arrived. Likewise, the total doses that the country has confirmed to receive amounts to 10,130,595 vaccines, of which 6,545,495 doses have already arrived (64.61%).

The Ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Costa Rica, Mayerlyn Cordero Díaz, stated that “The donation of a batch of AstraZeneca vaccines to the sister Republic of Costa Rica represents a very important act of solidarity for my country, to support the efforts of this friendly country in the fight against COVID-19. We are sure that together, in solidarity, we will be able to emerge faster from this pandemic that has affected us for almost two years ”.

The Government affirmed that it will coordinate the necessary logistics to access these vaccines as soon as possible, and that once the arrival date has been established, it will be communicated in a timely manner.
