Shouting “We are RD”a group of Dominican protesters with the national flag shout against another group of Haitians who gathered outside Columbia University, in New York City, to attack the president Luis Abinader who came to the place to participate in the Global Leaders Forum.
Some of the protesters carried signs with insults, one of which reads “stupid” and “racist” in English next to the president’s name, in the middle of the controversy over the total closure of the borders between the DR and Haiti for the construction on the Haitian side of a canal in the Dajabón or Masacre river.
The Dominican president is in New York City to participate in the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UN)in which next Wednesday he will give a speech on the crisis of Haiti.
The Prime Minister of the United Nations will also participate in the United Nations General Assembly. HaitiAriel Henry, who in turn will reiterate his request for a “strong support” international to restore security in the country, the Haitian Government reported on Sunday.
In an address to the country on Monday night, Abinader stated that the Dominican Government has the permanent task of continuing to raise awareness in the international community to come to the aid of the poorest nation in the region. and that is why your participation in the Assembly of the HIM.
