The Los Angeles Lakers remain unbeaten away with a deserved 108: 94 win against the Memphis Grizzlies and have also celebrated their third win in a row. LeBron James was the dominant player of the evening and barely missed a triple-double. Here are the highlights of the game!
Memphis Grizzlies (2-4) – Los Angeles Lakers (5-2) 94:108
With 22 points (9/16 FG), 13 rebounds and 8 assists, James led his team in all three major statistics, Anthony Davis contributed another 17 points (6/15 FG) as well as 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Montrezl Harrell was the best bank player with 16 points (7/11 FG), Dennis Schröder caught a rather used day with 11 points in 13 attempts, but was able to play 5 assists.
At Memphis, Kyle Anderson was the best thrower of his team with 18 points (7/19 FG), Jonas Valanciunas (14), Tyus Jones (14) and rookie Desmond Bane (13) also scored double-digit points.
For a long time, the Lakers didn’t go together offensively, Davis was only able to put two throws from the free throw line on the score sheet in the middle of the second quarter. Unlike Grizzlies rookie Bane, who was allowed to try again as a ball handler in the absence of the injured Ja Morant and led Memphis to a 9-point lead with 8 points in the first section.
LeBron James takes over for the Lakers in the 4th quarter
This lead should last a few minutes, but 5 quick points from Talen Horton-Tucker and some good defensive possessions brought the Lakers back into striking distance, before a bleeding Marc Gasol which brought his family back into the lead for the first time since the middle of the first quarter. At 56:54 LA it finally went into halftime.
Unchanged picture after the break. Both teams found it difficult to generate anything countable on the offensive and the lead sloshed back and forth several times. While Davis was slowly warming up, the big men Harrell and Valanciunas in particular got the points.
But LeBron came to life at quarter never four. The King, who had previously staged his teammates, took the offensive and scored the first 10 Lakers points of the section single-handedly, underneath again a deep threesome from the logo. As a result, Memphis had to demolish, LeBron ensured the double-digit lead with a three-point with a good two minutes on the clock and ultimately also the decision.
