Dominant Max Verstappen Sets New Records in Formula 1 Championship

ABU DHABI, 31st July, 2020 (WAM) — With his continued domination of the Formula 1 World Championship (Grand Prix) races this season, Dutchman Max Verstappen, driver of the Red Bull team, entered a new challenge with the historic records of the championship.
Yesterday, Sunday, Verstappen won the “Belgian Grand Prix” title in the 12th leg of the championship, which is the last before the 4-week summer break, provided that the championship activities will resume in the Dutch race, which is the first of 10 remaining races in the activities of the current season of the championship.
Verstappen strengthened his lead in the overall standings of the championship, raising his score to 314 points, 125 points ahead of Mexican Sergio Perez, his Red Bull teammate, who finished second in the Belgian race yesterday.
With this large difference in points, Verstappen may be able to clinch the championship title for the second season in a row sufficiently before the final race scheduled in Abu Dhabi next November, so that the final race becomes a new celebration of the Dutch champion, who represents the new front of the world of Formula-1.
With his victory in the Belgian race, Verstappen extended the record held by his team in the number of consecutive races won by any team in the history of the championship, and Red Bull raised its tally to 13 consecutive races, starting with the final race in Abu Dhabi last season and then 12 races this season.
Red Bull has also become the team that achieves the most consecutive victories in races in one season, and it can extend the two records through the following races in the championship after the summer break, especially in light of the clear control of its drivers in the championship races in the current season.
Among the 12 races that Red Bull won this season, Verstappen won 10 titles, including the last 8 races in a row, to become the second most driver in the history of the championship to achieve consecutive victories in Formula 1 races.
And if Verstappen wins the Dutch race title with the resumption of the season after 4 weeks, he will equal the record registered in the name of German Sebastian Vettel since 2013, when Vettel was a driver in the ranks of Red Bull as well.
Verstappen can also achieve more than one record in the championship through the remaining ten races in the championship this season.
