After a narrow defeat in Venlo last Monday, ADO Den Haag managed to bounce back. On home turf, Darije Kalezic’s team was lord and master and managed to take a comfortable 2-0 lead before half time. ADO Den Haag was not in danger again during the entire match. Deep into injury time, Van der Sande shot ADO Den Haag to 3-0 and the Residentieclub recorded an excellent victory over FC Emmen.
In a well-filled Bingoal Stadium, ADO Den Haag met FC Emmen on Friday evening, January 26. Kalezic saw Klas return to the match selection for this match and both Ché and Vigen were given a starting place.
With the Hague crowd behind them, ADO Den Haag immediately asserted itself in the first fifteen minutes of the match, but the team did not get further than a few opportunities. Still, the lead was palpable in the air for the home team. That feeling was followed after a good combination between Van der Sande and Van Mieghem was coolly finished by Veerman. The ball-steady striker turned away from his opponent and then shot the ball hard into the net: 1-0. Only a few minutes later, Veerman was able to prove his worth in the same way, after Ché had scored a good cross; take, turn and shoot. Unfortunately, FC Emmen was not fooled again and managed to prevent the 2-0 with a hard block.
The visitors had a difficult time in The Hague and only got away from their own half at times. ADO Den Haag was on top of things and managed to regain the ball within a few seconds if they lost the ball. Increasing the margin was the only thing missing in the first half hour of the match. ADO Den Haag continued to pass the ball around, eventually being able to strike. The emerging Ché delivered a tight ball across the ground to Vigen, who scored the redeeming 2-0 after 36 minutes of play. The Hague team was lord and master on its own field and also very effective. The chances that were created were also taken advantage of, so they went to the changing rooms with a 2-0 halftime score in The Hague’s favor.
And in the second act, ADO Den Haag continued where they left off in the first half. Lustig combined the team like crazy. FC Emmen did not get further than a shot high over Marsman’s goal in the first fifteen minutes of the second half. Despite having a lot of ball possession, ADO Den Haag was unable to create any significant opportunities for a long time.
Head coach Darije Kalezic brought fresh energy to the playing field with Esajas and Schalk. Schalk had been on the field for less than a minute before he was presented with his first chance. On Veerman’s instructions, the attacker could have immediately made himself immortal, but unfortunately goalkeeper Hoekstra could put a stop to that. In the phase that followed, ADO Den Haag was not in danger, but did not create much itself, so it was still 2-0 in the Bingoal Stadium for a long time. In the final phase, Koudossou, who had just arrived, put the ball on a silver platter, but there was no one on the Hague side who could put his foot on it. For a long time it looked as if the halftime score would also be the final score, until Van der Sande was able to make the crowd cheer one more time deep into injury time. After a good move he finished the match very hard: 3-0.
