“Domestic photovoltaic power plants face challenges: Consumer protection concerns and rising installation costs”

Many customers will lose out on the current wave of interest in domestic photovoltaic power plants. The boom is pushing installation prices up, and solar system suppliers often make unfulfillable promises to customers. This was agreed by the participants of the Energy Prices: Consumer Protection in the Time of Energy Crisis conference organized by the Institute for Public Debate.

The government is pulling the emergency brake on the runaway train of extraordinary pension valorizations. It does not have a comprehensive solution to maintain the pension system, if already unbalanced, at least without devastating effects on the state budget for the next decade. And so, for the time being, she only wants to deal with what has troubled her the most during the last months and what would surely scare any reasonable economist. It is precisely the extraordinary expenses for valorization caused by high inflation and the method of calculation.

Almost one and a quarter billion crowns will be brought to the PPF financial group by the approved dividend of Monety Money Bank. On Tuesday, the bank’s general meeting approved, among other things, an eight-crown dividend per share, while Renáta Kellnerová’s group is its dominant shareholder with less than thirty percent. Another hundred million will go to the J&T group and to billionaire Pavlo Tykač, who together with PPF owns a majority in the bank.

A well-known player in the Czech sauna business and the bond market intends to finance the expansion to the Austrian capital in one person by selling additional bonds to small investors. The Saunia company, which according to the latest available reports had over 300 million crowns in accumulated losses and almost half a billion crowns in debt in mid-2021, also claims that it has had the best season in history. Sauni, which is kept afloat by, among other things, the money of the domestic market leader in bathroom equipment Siko, is catching up with the dramatic rise in interest rates.

Negotiations between the Czech Republic and the Americans on the possible purchase of 24 F-35 aircraft are at their peak. It is already certain that this would be a contract with a total value of more than one hundred billion crowns, which the Czech Republic would pay for ten years from the budget of the Ministry of Defense. On the contrary, representatives of the ministry continue to negotiate with American government agencies about the possible involvement of Czech industry or about the inflation clauses of this historically most expensive military acquisition.

First, “quick” 860 million from the state budget, then 25 billion crowns negotiated by European commissioners. The big plans of the pirate minister for regional development Ivan Bartoš, who at the beginning of the Russian invasion promised a lot of money to build apartments for Ukrainian refugees and support their accommodation, did not come true. According to data from the non-profit organization People in Need, refugees are at risk of homelessness.

The Česká dráhy Group significantly improved its economic results last year. While it lost more than two billion crowns in 2021, it reported a profit of 396 million last year. The improvement is related to the continued return of passengers to the trains. Last year, the railways carried 157 million of them, 36 million more year-on-year. Passenger transport thus erased a loss of two billion and earned fourteen million, on the other hand, the traditional generator of an order of magnitude higher profit, freight transport under the ČD Cargo brand, reduced its profit from 388 million to 310, the railways announced.

The largest domestic manufacturer of rolling stock Škoda Group could soon have the inscription made in Kazakhstan under its winged arrow logo. On Tuesday, he signed a framework agreement with the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs on future investment, the aim of which is to place part of the production and service in Kazakhstan. The information was confirmed by Škoda Group’s Jan Švehla to the editors of E15.

Rhetoric and reality do not always go hand in hand. The CNB is trying to verbally assure the markets that it will do everything necessary to restore price stability. However, her actions do not match this determination. In the context of unacceptably high inflation, the stance of the National Bank is not restrictive enough. Recently, with regard to the noticeable increase in wages in industry, the possibility of further interest rate hikes is starting to be cautiously lowered again.
