There are just a few days left until the new edition of Sunday Inthe fifteenth with the conduction of Mara Venier. The debut is in fact scheduled for Sunday 17 September at 2.00 pm on Rai1. For this reason, today, the press conference to present the festive container is scheduled, which will be held from around 12.00 in Room A on Viale Mazzini in Rome. Present, in addition to Mara Venier, was the Rai Daytime Entertainment director Angelo Mellone. Here on DavideMaggio.it we will follow the conference live, to update the program minute by minute.
12.12: The press conference begins. We start with greetings to Mellone and the “Sunday lady” Mara Venier, who thanks everyone present. The promo for Domenica In is then launched, already in rotation on the Rai networks.
12.14: In the promo, Mara is wearing a work helmet. For Mellone, in fact, every year the program is rebuilt like a building. In fact, there will be some news, which Venier will announce shortly. It will be a “tale of Italy told by witnesses with particular stories“. More space will be reserved for current events, with different languages and narrative methods. “Domenica In is afternoon prime time“, says the Director, also given the length and ‘prestigious’ management. Mara will use appropriate language, even in current affairs, to accompany viewers in the postprandial slot. Mellone agreed with all the decisions made by Venier and her staff to revitalize the program. It is certain that this year “it will be an edition with even more energy, with even more facets, more particularities and even more complete“.
12.18: Mellone gives good luck to Mara, who was initially worried about working with him because she didn’t know much about him. However, she has built up good trust. Mara says that “Domenica In is the only program I can host“. Even though he has announced his latest edition several times, he changes his mind every time because he is amazed at the affection that viewers reserve for his program, which grows in share every year despite the strong competition. The effort “is to always be able to extract something different from each interview“, both for current events and for the world of entertainment.
12.22: In the first episode there will be Daniela, Giogiò Cutolo’s motheryoung man killed recently in Naples.
12.25: Mara has always had a dream: “bring Aunt Mara to the theaters“. Sunday, iThe program should have started from Cesenain Emilia Romagna, to bring “you know the reasons, to those simple people Domenica In; we wanted to bring our sympathy, our warmth“, something that Venier had already done in the 90s as, for example, from New York for Italians abroad. However, due to technical problems, primarily some guests who could not stay in Cesena, it was decided to start again from the studio. “Every time every two months I would like to go to the Italians, with my whole group, with all my guests, with all my friends“. In addition to Emilia Romagna, a planned stop is that ofUmbria. He jokes (?) saying that this is his last Domenica In.
12.28: “The public never abandoned me, when my programs were taken away and when I wasn’t on air. There are moments in life when there are very strong pains and if I go on air and am torn apart by pain I don’t feel like making fun of anyone. If I’m here after thirty years, it means that the truth pays“, replies Mara on the affection the public has for her.
12.30: On Sunday there will be guests – as anticipated by DM – Pooh, Carlo Verdone, Matteo Garrone, and then Daniela Di Maggio, The Kolors, Matteo Bocelli.
12.31: Mellone doesn’t believe Mara when she says it will be her Last Sunday In. This year too she won’t interview politicians, even if “I would gladly do an interview with Giorgia Meloni from woman to woman“, comments Venier.
12.33: There isn’t a past episode of Domenica In and of her career that Mara doesn’t forgive herself: “At work you can make mistakes, gaffes, but I also live with my gaffes and my mistakes. I don’t blame myself for anything“. Behind the scenes, dealing with the stars, everything happened. She got annoyed, for example, during an interview in a hotel with Arnold Schwarzenegger who, unable to tolerate simultaneous translation, threw his earpiece to the floor every two minutes, which forced a sound engineer to pick it up three times. “Good yes, but badass no“, Mara says bluntly, revealing that she didn’t like the arrogant Schwarzenegger, so much so that she asked her collaborator to translate for him that he would fuck him if he did it again. And from there he remained quiet and seated for forty minutes.
12.38: An interview with Madonna was also skipped, making her wait for over five hours, only to then declare herself available at 10pm. She preferred not to do it, since she was already in bed.
12.41: Mara remembers some advice from Renzo Arbore, namely that it is better to give up something when you are at a high level. However, Domenica In has given her everything and she can’t say no, even if “I am convinced that this will be my last year“. She knows that she is a mature person and must dedicate time to the people she cares about, such as her husband, while her schedule requires her to work every day. “I want to enjoy my husband’s love as long as I can” (of children and grandchildren) and denies, as has been said recently, “that we are separating“.
12.42: Cold joke from Mellone, about Mara’s husband’s trips to Santo Domingo. “If you go to Santo Domingo together you can do Domingo In“.
12.45: Mara knows she is spontaneous because “I don’t learn anything by heart“. The evening before Sunday In reads everything that concerns his guests, but he has nothing written in the episode. “I memorize three concepts, I sit in front of the guest, we look into each other’s eyes and it goes from there. Above all I listen; I’m curious, I deeply love who I have in front of me. I fall in love with the guest, I put all my heart into trying to understand who I have in front of me. It doesn’t always happen, but for the most part, that’s how the interview comes about“.
12.47: Some guests place limits on some questions, even through their press offices. However, Venier doesn’t understand one thing: “They come to Domenica In and ask you ‘don’t ask him this, don’t ask him that’. Then they go to Belve and tell everything“. Among the guests of the new edition there will also be Tommaso Paradiso, who he didn’t know and who was a surprise.
12.50: During the pandemic, when she learned that a guest had tested positive, Mara thought about leaving Domenica In because she was afraid, primarily due to her husband’s health problems. At the request of the general manager, who invited her to think again, Mara changed her mind, given that she “the public has never abandoned me” and felt he had to lighten him up and entertain him with his program. Her relationship with her husband Nicola is solid, even if “it’s clear that work takes away from you, but it’s important for each of us“. Work is life and helps her to move forward, not to collapse.
12.55: Mara doesn’t want to mention names about her hypothetical replacement. She doesn’t want to make long-term plans about what her future work will be: “PFor me the future is now“. She has many offers now that he is of retirement age, perhaps as he has never had before. Speaking of current events, Mara, you know that you will continue to deal with violence against women but also with disabilities.
13.00: Mara would like international guests but it takes money: “The problem is only economic“. Sylvester Stallone was at stake, but next Sunday he will be there Brigitte Nielsen: “At least we stay in the family, Stallone will you give it to me?“. Mellone deflects – “We’ll save on a few more episodes” – but Mara doesn’t collect: “More than we are already doing?“.
13.01: Mara insists on not wanting to give the name of whoever she imagines replacing her: “Because then those I haven’t named get offended. Everyone can do Domenica In“.
13.02: Final greetings. The press conference is over.
