Dolphin Attacks in Japan: Beachgoer Injuries and Warnings

Jakarta

Dolphins are known as adorable friendly mammals at the zoo. However, the story is different when he and his flock on the high seas can attack and injure humans.

reported Daily Mail, Wednesday (19/7/2023) so far this year the Fakui area, Japan has recorded six attacks lumba-lumba on the beach. The most recent was a dolphin attack off the coast of Suishohama in Mihama city, Fukui prefecture, on Sunday (16/7). This attack left four beachgoers injured.

A man in his 60s suffered a broken rib when he was hit by this mammal. Meanwhile, another resident had a bite on his hand. The next day the dolphins became aggressive again and injured two people.

Videos circulating also capture dolphins rampaging and trying to drag swimmers underwater just meters from a popular beach in Japan. Meanwhile, other beachgoers could only watch helplessly and shout at the beach urging people to get out of the water.

In other footage, the sea near the beach is seen empty of people as the dolphins approach the shoreline. People stood terrified on the beach seeing dolphins swimming near them. There are visitors who try to swim to the side to save themselves.

Another video also shows a man with a red life jacket, unaware that a dolphin is approaching him until he is hit. The dolphin swam briefly on his feet and almost pulled him under the water.

Danger warning sign posted

A series of attacks were also reported in the seaside area last year, which is popular with tourists. Officials have posted warning signs warning the public not to approach or touch the dolphins.

They have warned swimmers, ‘If you see dolphins, do not enter the water’.

But many seem to ignore this advice over the weekend. It can be seen from the videos of swimmers, kayakers and paddleboarders circulating on social media.
